NFIP Update: Senate Approves Extension, FEMA Issues Bulletin
After a delay, the Senate approved legislation which included reauthorizing FEMA's National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) through March 28. Because the extension was not made retroactive, FEMA issued a memo that includes technical guidance for agents regarding the processing of flood policies affected by the two-day gap.

Agent Alert: Incorrect Notice of License Suspension Sent to Agents
PIA sent a member alert Monday, March 1 regarding an incorrect notice of suspension sent to 140,383 Ohio resident and non-resident agents by Prometric, the Continuing Education (CE) vendor that the Ohio Department of Insurance contracts to administer the Ohio CE program. Prometric may have incorrectly sent you a suspension notice with CE transcripts for the 2008-2009 compliance period. Only resident agents with a non-compliant status on their CE transcript should have received the suspension notice.

Alert on Interstate WC Coverage
PIA recently sent a member alert regarding extra-territorial workers' compensation coverage and Ohio law allowing employers to segregate payroll if only a portion of their employees work in Ohio. It has come to our attention that some policyholders may be at risk of exposure if they do not carry workers' compensation in other states, where their employees may do business on a temporary basis.
