July/August - Feature: PIA’s 2010 Agency Management and Profitability Conference: New format, new location
This year’s AMPC, to be held Sept. 23-24, 2010, will not only feature a new location, but a new format and agenda that will allow for more activities and increased opportunities for networking, including a panel discussion with insurance agents, company executives and industry leaders, an opening luncheon, industry awards dinner, and a formal breakfast held in conjunction with the Annual Business Meeting and Conferment Ceremony. PIA will also feature an exhibit hall in a new and expanded space.
 
 
July/August - Feature: Narrowing the Gap: Changes to the 2010 ISO Business Owners Policy (Part Two)
Last month, Robert S. Ford, CIC, CISR, discussed the 2010 changes to the ISO Business Owners Policy (BOP). He outlined the revisions to important property coverages, such as business income and extra expense, outdoor property, debris removal, equipment breakdown and crime. This second part will explain the revisions to business income and extra expense, discretionary payroll expense, civil authority, liability and snowplow products – completed operations.
 
 
July/August - Legislative Agenda: The Citizens United Decision and the Mid-Term Election
Earlier this year, the U.S. Supreme Court struck down a major part of campaign finance reform legislation passed in 2002 known as the Bipartisan Campaign Finance Reform Act (BCRA), or the McCain-Feingold Act. The ruling, which stemmed from the case Citizens United v. the Federal Elections Commission, is the most consequential decision concerning campaign finance law, and perhaps the First Amendment, in decades.
